Faith Talk - November 3, 2024

Sunday: November 3, 2024
Series: Faith and Politics
Sermon: Faith and Politics: Ten Times Better

Scripture

Daniel 1:20 – In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.

Summary

Today, Pastor Brian finished up our series, Faith and Politics. We learned that no matter who is president or what political party is ruling Christians can live out their faith, spread the gospel, and advance God’s Kingdom. Even though our government rulers might change, our mission as the people of God stays the same.

Walking through the book of Daniel and observing him and his three friends, we saw an example of how to live out our faith and be considered ten times better than any other influence our rulers have.

We saw three primary ways we can be ten times better:
  • We are ten times better when we practice our faith in a secular culture.
  • We are ten times better when we trust God’s sovereign rule over all of life.
  • We are ten times better when we call our leaders to repent and turn to God.

Discussion

  1. Share what you took away most from the story of Daniel and his three friends.
    • What encouraged you? What challenged you? What scared you?
  2. Discuss how you, individually and as a family, can be a biblical influence to the leaders God has placed you under.
    • Is it a political leader? A boss at work? A parent at home?
  3. Share one way you can take action on each of the three points we learned from Daniel and his friends. How can you:
    • Live out your faith in a secular culture?
    • Trust God’s sovereign rule over every aspect of your life?
    • Call your leaders to repentance and turn to God?

Pray Together

Father God, thank You for Your sovereign rule over all of life, including those in positions of rule and authority. We ask that You give us the courage to live out our faith, realizing You have placed us under these leaders for Your purpose. We commit to stay on mission, to live for You, and to be a biblical influence where You have placed us. We entrust our nation, our upcoming election, and the future of America to You. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
